Virginia State Police reported a decrease in traffic fatalities from the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to the following Sunday from 16 deaths in 2009 to nine deaths this year. They also reported a dramatic uptick in DUI arrests from 132 in 2009 to 175 in 2010. 2,780 citations for Criminal Reckless Driving were issued along with 10,116 Speeding Tickets.
It is important for all those charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, or even a simple Speeding Ticket to contact an experienced criminal, DUI, or traffic attorney to find out what can be done to help. It is important to realize that every case is different and a charge of DUI, DWI, or Reckless Driving does not have to mean a conviction. The consequences of a DUI or DWI, and in some cases a Reckless Driving or Speeding conviction, can be devastating. Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol and Reckless Driving may lead to a jail sentence and DUI/DWI, Reckless Driving, and/or a simple Speeding Ticket may result in a suspension of your driver’s license. That’s right – it is possible that a traffic ticket may result in a license suspension.
